Every March, the Women’s and Gender Studies Program marks Women’s History Month with a series of events.
This year’s theme is “Women on the Move,” acknowledging that women are moving forward in their goals and achievements, as well as in the fight for equal rights.
Our theme is reflected in our annual writing contest prompt: What will gender mean in 2117? Gender rules and norms change fairly quickly and it is valuable to consider what those things might look like going forward 100 years.
We are also honoring Penguin Women on the Move, alumni who have gone great lengths since graduating from Youngstown State. Their photos and biographies will be on display during the month of March in Maag Library (first floor display case), the Kilcawley Center, and in DeBartolo Hall (near the Women’s and Gender Studies office).
