YSU Celebrates Women’s History Month 2024
The theme of Women’s History Month this year is Good Trouble. The late Representative John Lewis advocated for people to get in “good trouble.” He learned to get into “good trouble” from Rosa Parks. At the opening of an exhibit at the Library of Congress about Rosa Park’s life, he said:
Rosa Parks inspired us to get in trouble. And I’ve been getting in trouble ever since. She inspired us to find a way, to get in the way, to get in what I call good trouble, necessary trouble. She kept on saying to each one of us, you too can do something. And for people if you see something that is not right, not fair, not just, do something. We cannot afford to be quiet.
There are so many things for us to be concerned about both on campus and off campus and in the world at large. This month, we aim to help folks learn how to get into good trouble and how good trouble can bring about change in the world.
